Who are tonight’s trialists?

Juan Luque

I know, it’s so unfair. you want to know about the players I haven’t written about already, don’t you?

Juan Luque is the former Barcelona youth player who secured a move to Heybridge Swifts via a trial last summer. He tore up the Isthmian League last year and has been at City for a week or two now,

He came off the bench against Blackburn, but was once again side lined as we visited Boston this evening.

Charlie Jemson

There’s a face you know, right? Yes, Charlie Jemson is the son of Nigel Jemson, one time Imps trialist and Forest player. If he follows in his Dad’s footsteps, we’ll not see him again.

He started out at Forest and played in their Under 23 side with the likes of Ben Brereton and Oliver Burke. He’s recently plied his trade with Ilkeston Town, but is looking for a route back into professional football.

In an interview with the Football Wonderkids site, he touted his strengths as having an ability to use both feet well, good passing range, good heading ability and aggression,. Apparently he isn’t the quickest centre half, but he has the other attributes needed.

Connor Evans

There might be some artistic license here, but I suspect Connor Evans might actually be Connor Lemonheigh-Evans, a Bristol City youth who is still with the Robins. I may be wrong, but he does seem to fit the bill for a Danny trialist.

He’s 21-years old and plays in midfield. He’s represented Wales up to U18 level, but has recently been on loan with Torquay, as well as Bath City. He has just one senior appearance with Bristol City to his name, coming in last year’s FA Cup.

If the trial player is Evans, it would make sense for him to be here with a view to a loan deal, rather than a permanent deal. If the Evans who played for City didn’t have ginger hair, I’m wide of the mark.
