The Imps secure Derby wide man on loan

Danny Cowley has secured the services of Kellan Gordon on loan until January.

20-year old Gordon spent time in League Two with Swindon Town last season, making 31 appearances for the Robins, scoring four times. He impressed in the friendly against Derby U23s and will add options to Danny’s squad.

Prior to moving to the County Ground, he made his first-team debut as a substitute in the Rams’ Carabao Cup Round One tie at Grimsby Town last August. He also featured against Lincoln in the 2-2 draw with Swindon last season. Gordon is versatile and offers options at right back, but is primarily a winger.

It is thought he is available to play in this evenings Carabao Cup clash with Blackburn, having not played for Derby in their first round match against Oldham Athletic.

In his first year as a professional, the winger missed just one of the Rams’ U23 fixtures and he capped off a fine personal year by scoring three goals, including a great effort in a 5-3 win over Manchester United and the winner against Chelsea on the final day of the season.

That should conclude just about Danny’s business now, leaving no need for a live blog on deadline day. He’s got Gordon, Sam Slocombe, Scott Wharton, Adam Crookes and Shay McCartan on loan, meaning we can not pick any more players in the squad. The maximum we can sign is eight, but only five can play at any one time.

We could sign a free agent, up until tomorrow, but only if they’ve been without a club since the permanent deadline expired earlier this month.

  1. That’s Anderson on the bench! He gives lots of huff and puff but this is a team looking to improve through better technical ability…..
