Joan Luque joins Bromley on loan

The Imps Spanish attacker Joan Luque has joined National League side Bromley on loan in a short-term switch.

Bromley are 18th in the National League and are managed by former Gillingham midfielder Neil Smith. the move is clearly aimed at getting Luque a run of first team games, in much the same way us borrowing Bernard Mensah and Kellan Gordon is.

Luque has appeared three times this season for City, most notably when he scored our only goal at Ewood Park in the League Cup. His chances have been limited and Danny is now sending him out with a view to getting minutes under his belt.

He joined us from Heybridge Swifts on deadline day, but only came in on a six-month deal and therefore needs a chance to get match fit in order to prove his worth.

“The plan is for him to play some games, he’s come into the club and done great, he’s a boy with top end quality who can score goals and create goals. But he needs to play, and with the team playing so well his chances have been limited and we want to make sure he has a run of games.” Danny told the club’s official site.

“In the short term as I say, it’s about getting him a run of games. Bromley are a really good club, they have an excellent manager and they know about Joan Luque, they know the type of player he is so we expect him to go there and do really well.”

It seems a wise move, I’ve been really impressed with Luque but he has looked raw and if the rest of the squad are getting games, he needs to keep pace with that. He was one I’d like to see in the Checkatrade Trophy, but he’ll get better experience from the hustle and bustle of National League life.

If he impresses at Bromley, then he’ll be welcomed back with open arms. It really is all over to him now.
