The Class of 2007/08 – A look at seven academy players who broke through a decade ago

Ayden Duffy

Duffy might not have exactly broken through, but he got more game time than Simon Raynor and Paul Pettinger, both keepers kept out of the side by Alan Marriott.

He got his first outing as a sub for the injured Marriot, coming on in the first half as we beat Chester in League Two action. He filled in until Marriott returned to fitness, then got another two-game spell when Mazza’s replacement Rob Burch also dropped out of the side with an injury.

He only kept one clean sheet for Lincoln, but that was in a Football League Trophy game against Leicester City.

  1. The amount of flack various managers got for not using more youth feels vindicated. None of these have gone up a level. Was Kern Miller through the youth? I remember Sutton getting pelters for letting him go to Barnsely.
