Thanks, No Thanks: Blackpool

Thanks: Lee Philpott

This might divide a few people as I’ve spoken to some who rated Philpott and others who didn’t. Me, I’m a sucker for a winger and always felt that he added quality to our ranks, even if it was during a challenging time for the club.

He was a skilful and pacey wide man who spent two years at Sincil Ban. Played for most of our only season in Division Two without finding the net, but managed three the following season as we finished mid-table in the bottom tier.

Philpott had clearly had the best of his football early in his career at Cambridge and Leicester, eventually joining us after leaving Blackpool who had spent £75,000 on him two years earlier. Upon completion of his contract with us, he defected to Hull City and later played for Weymouth and Harrogate, as well as briefly managing the latter.

Lee founded LPM Football Agents Limited in May 2008 representing several current and former Imps.
