Imps’ fans have been rocked by the news that Bruno Andrade could be out for up to 12 weeks.
The flying winger picked up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 FA Cup 1st Round replay against Ipswich, going down early in the second half. It’s transpired he’s got two tears in his hamstring which will keep him out of action until well into the New Year.
With no new contract on the horizon as yet, it leads to an uncertain future for Andrade, who joined the Imps from Boreham Wood at the beginning of last season.
After finding himself on the bench for the first few games under Danny Cowley, Bruno has battled back into contention under Michael Appleton. He’s had more shots per game than any of our other players and often looks to be the creative spark we’re so desperately lacking.
We’ve had so much luck with injuries over the last few years that a crisis was inevitable, but with Bozzy and Michael O’Connor out as well we’re arguably without three of our best players from last season. That’s a huge blow for MA and the sort of luck he’s endured since taking over.
“It’s not great news,” he told Lincolnshire Live. “We don’t know 100 per cent, but it’s going to be somewhere in the region of eight to 12 weeks.
“He’s got a tear in a couple of places. It’s not straightforward. It’s disappointing for him because he was having a good spell. In the game the other night, before the game off, he was looking dangerous. It’s a blow for him and the team, but these are the things that happen in football. You’ve just got to roll with it.”
Fans have met the news with the usual mix of concern and positivity, trying to put a silver lining around the cloud. Some feel it is time for Harry Anderson to shine, whilst others bemoaned our lack of options in the wide areas.
Not good but we still need pace, Harry A has to start games now…and why not try Toffolo slightly more advanced and put Max Melbourne in at LB…..?!!

Maybe a change in system to suit all the central players we have

Didn't look good when he went down at the match, but I was hoping no news was good news, until today!

Rheady wont solve our problems. We need a goal scorer and Rheady cant do that anymore. We need some young exciting talent. If only Appleton would let this monster play. pic.twitter.com/7wM28ETFmq
