Colchester United fans have been reacting to news that left-back Cohen Bramall has signed a multi-year deal with the Imps.
The 24-year-old has spent two seasons in Essex, and has started 25 League Two matches this season. He has previously been linked with both Reading and Brentford, and spent two years at Arsenal, with a trial period at Sincil Bank somewhere in between.
He joined the Gunners from Hednesford, one day after being made redundant from the factory where he worked. He played consistently for the under-23 side in 2017/18 and turned some heads with his blistering pace and crossing delivery. Those characteristics certainly followed him last season, where he helped his side to the League Two play-off semi-finals. Since then, his performances at the JobServe Community Stadium have earned rave reviews, which leads to today’s move. However, some Colchester fans are a little dismayed that he has gone.
The Us have had a decent deadline day themselves, begging Frank Nouble from Plymouth on loan, as well as Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu, but those gains have been offset by the loss of Bramall. They moved quickly to secure cover at left-back, with Josh Doherty joining, but it is fair to say that some are not completely impressed.
Do we listen to the reaction from opposing supporters? Sometimes it is peppered with bad tweets, but usually, you can get a taste for a player by the reaction from supporters who are seeing him leave. In this instance, it does seem as though he is well-regarded, although some feel he might not have been quite as on form this season as last.
The Colchester fans have been offering their insight on social media, with a few feel that the loss of a talented 24-year-old, coveted by bigger clubs, is the ‘catch’ to their decent day of business.
That's a killer so late in window to lose a big player he's of a very good standard Lincoln solid LG1 side
