There is something of the ‘Michael Appleton character’ in Jerome Sinclair. He’s only 24, which is the sort of age I could see us going for, and he’s needing a bit of a pick-me-up after a great early career. He was on the books of Liverpool appearing twice in the Premier League before a £4m move to Watford. It never really worked out for him there and he had loan spells with Birmingham, Sunderland and Oxford. He wasn’t at Oxford at the same time as Michael, but if you go back further, he was at West Brom as a youth, when Michael was a coach. He was released at the end of last season after a loan spell with CSKA Sofia, where he scored three in 27 outings.
