Worst Performance of the Month – Wimbledon 5.27

We only lost one game this month, in the league at least, so it stands to reason it was the worst. You voted it so; we didn’t get a lot of luck in the game. It is memorable for having a rather controversial refereeing performance, but the truth is we couldn’t break down an organised and stubborn Wimbledon. What they do, they do well – we haven’t scored against them in two home matches now, and we never really looked like getting back into this after the early penalty. Not Conor McGrandles finest moment, but we shrugged it off to go to Hillsborough and that’s important; put the rubbish games behind us and move on.

Best Performance of the Month – Wigan 7.68

Football, it’s a crazy game. One week you’re wallowing in self-pity after losing to the Wombles and people start talking about relegation. Seven days later, you’re beating a big-spending team, FA Cup winners just over a decade ago, on their own ground. We created some chances, took the big ones, and held firm at the back. It was a great away performance, the sort that we haven’t always been able to produce. We even came within a minute of keeping a clean sheet – imagine that! Dan was the star of the show, but only one Player scored less than seven, Josh Griffiths, and that was as much to do with his lack of action than anything.

Best Individual Performance of the Month – Chris Maguire v Charlton 8.6

I’ve already praised Maguire for his recent performances, but he was exemplary against Charlton. He started as a nine, which wasn’t expected ahead of kick-off, and he led like a captain. Charlton were there for the taking, and many say winning was a formality, but you have to beat what is in front of you, and Maguire was instrumental in keeping us focused, creative and on point.
