SW Podcast Former Player Special #1 – Gavin Gordon

It’s time for the first of our former play podcasts, and we welcome striker Gavin Gordon onto the show.

Gavin played 114 games for the Imps, scoring 32 goals after joining for a fee in the region of £30,000 from Hull City. He enjoyed a promotion in his first season, suffered relegation in his second and hit double figures in the next two, before a £500,000 move to Cardiff City, which helped keep the club afloat. In total, he played 264 games as a professional, including two seasons in the second tier with Cardiff City, and bagged 65 career goals. Last year, you voted him 49th in the 100 Top Players of a Generation.

He played under John Beck, Shane Westley, John Reames and Phil Stant, and appeared alongside some great names. He arrived as the classic Beck side of Ainsworth and co was being broken up, and left when the classic Keith side of Gain, Mazza and co was being assembled. Today, in the first of our former player specials, he looks back on his career in an hour’s chat with SW podcast co-host Gary Hutchinson. Me, basically.

A big thank you to Gavin for his time, hope you enjoy the show.
