The Imps have been credited with having an interest in former Rotherham United winger Mickel Miller.
The 26-year-old is a free agent after being released by Rotherham United, and he’s currently being pursued by a number of clubs. Portsmouth, who seemingly want all our targets, are one team thought to be in the hunt, whilst he is already believed to have held talks with Plymouth, Fleetwood and Burton Albion.
Interestingly, Miller was a key player for Rotherham in the left wing-back role, but missed portions of the season through injury. There was some surprise when The Millers chose to release him, which accounts for the large number of suitors coveting his services.
Miller made his name playing for Carshalton Athletic (shudder), before a move to the SPFL with Hamilton Academical. In 2018/19 he scored eight goals in 36 outings, which earned him the accolade of leading scorer, and saw his employer trigger another year option on his deal. When that was completed, Championship side Rotherham came knocking.

He was used sparingly by Rotherham the following season, and spent time on loan with Northampton Town in our division, appearing 12 times before they were relegated. One of those games was the Cobblers 2-1 defeat at Sincil Bank, The Croydon-born wide man returned to The New York Stadium after his loan spell, and played 30 times last season, scoring four goals. Oddly, three of his goals came in big wins, 6-0 against Doncaster, 5-1 against Gillingham and 5-0 against hapless Doncaster.
Whilst he can play left wing-back, he also operated as a centre forward, attacking midfielder and conventional left-back for the Millers, as well as operating occasionally on the right.
Whether there’s any truth in the rumours remains to be seen, we do seem to have been tagged onto the report by the Portsmouth News with Cambridge United, but Miller does seem like the sort of player we might be interested in; that sadly includes the injuries he suffered last season!
