City Land Championship Forward On Season-Long Loan Deal

The Imps have secured attacker Jordon Garrick on a season-long loan deal from Swansea City.

The attacker, who can play through the middle or wide on the right, started his sporting career as a potential rugby league player; he trained with the Bradford Bulls before switching to football with Ossett Albion. After impressive performances in West Yorkshire, Swansea City snapped him up.

In 2019/20, he made 14 appearances for the Swans, 11 of those coming in the Championship, where he scored twice. He was then sent out on loan to Swindon Town, where he scored twice in 14 matches; one of those goals came just two minutes into our 2-2 draw with them at Sincil Bank.

Last season he was at Home Park, Plymouth, where he started 19 League One games and made a further 23 league appearances as a sub. He bagged seven goals for them in all competitions, starting in our 2-2 draw at the Bank (I notice a theme here) and coming on as a sub as we beat them 2-1. He also started their FA Cup tie with Chelsea in December, a game in which Ryan Lowe’s side impressed.

“I’m super happy to be here – I’ve been at Swansea now for 10 years and it feels like this is the right club to take my career to the next step,” he told the club’s official site. “I spoke to Liam Cullen, who was on loan here last season; he said it was a great group of lads and a well-run club. He said how passionate the fans are and spoke nothing but positively about the club. The head coach was a winger and someone I feel I can learn off. He speaks really highly of the fans, the staff and club in general.”

Garrick is a quick player, and was touted as a possible replacement for Marcus Harness at Portsmouth earlier in the summer. He becomes the third Swansea player to join on loan in 2022, following Morgan Whittaker and Liam Cullen in January.

Welcome to the club, Jordon.
