George Nurse – Shrewsbury Town – Left Back
Nurse is a former Bristol City player who joined Shrewsbury on a two-year deal in the summer of 2021. The fact he plays on the left for Salop, a team comfortable in the 3-5-2 formation, is one reason I’ve selected him, as well as his contract status. He’s also only 23, but he turns 24 in the summer, which could be crucial. If he were to move as a 24-year-old, he wouldn’t command a fee (although his birthday is July and if I’m honest, I’m not sure where that puts any suitors in terms of not paying a development fee). There’s another caveat here – he’s just done his ACL, so whilst he would fit the bill in terms of what we’re looking for, it would surely be something for the summer.
