Current Imps Loan Player Linked With Exit

Forest Green Rovers are reportedly eyeing a move for Jordon Garrick, despite the winger currently being on loan with us.

Gloucestershire Live explains that Ian Burnchall’s side is keen on adding the 24-year-old to their squad for the second half of the season, which suggests there’s a hint of him being available. He is currently part of our squad, but his playing time has been limited amidst injury and a loss of form.

Garrick made his debut for the Imps against the Gloucestershire side and was a real handful as we drew 1-1. There’s no doubt that was his best game for us; he scored late in our 2-2 draw with Barrow in the Carabao Cup but has been used sparingly since, having suffered an injury and not made an impact when handed a chance.

If we’re to sign a loan player this window, one will surely have to go, and Garrick is the likely candidate, given the other loan player we’ve not seen a lot of, Oakley-Boothe, is a midfielder, where we currently have an injury.

Garrick has appeared 11 times for us in the league, five starts and six times as a sub. He hasn’t started since the 2-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers and hasn’t appeared in the league since the draw with Accrington Stanley at the start of November. He has since appeared in the Papa John’s Trophy, coming on as a late sub as we faced Everton Under 21s and again at St Mary’s during our brave cup defeat at Southampton.

However, with his chances seemingly few and far between, despite his injury worries being over, a departure does seem likely. Swansea will surely want him to get game time, whilst Forest Green need attacking options following the departures of striker Connor Wickham and wing-back Harry Boyes.

Whilst this might feel a bit cruel, few would mourn the departure of Jordon, who hasn’t had a run in the team and has probably had a similar impact as Dan N’Lundulu did last season – flashes of something, but never able to make a long-term, meaningful contribution as Jack Diamond or Matty Virtue have.
