Sam Long has completed a loan move to National League side Bromley until the end of the season.
Long, who has made six senior appearances for City, including his League One debut in a 2-1 win at Plymouth last season, featured 23 times while on loan at Boston United in the National League North during first half of the campaign. He returned to City at the start of the month, but with three keepers on our books, he is unsurprisingly heading back out.
He will now continue his development at Hayes Lane alongside fellow Imp Charley Kendall. Kendall made his debut for them this weekend in their 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe United, a game in which Reice Charles-Cook started in goal. He’ll now have pressure placed on him by Long, who spent last season on loan in Ireland with Drogheda. He represented the Drogs 15 times, keeping three clean sheets, but impressed during his time there. His form in Ireland saw him attend called up to the Scotland Under 21 squad, whilst he’d previously attended an England training camp.

Bromley are currently sixth in the National League, which in the new system is a comfortable play-off place. Sam certainly stands a chance of game time – they’ve recently had Arsenal youngster Tom Smith on loan; he appeared 13 times, keeping three clean sheets. He’s been recalled today and sent out to League Two side Colchester United.
