‘Dreadful’, ‘Going Down’ – These MK Dons Fans React To Imps Draw

It’s fair to say last night’s draw between MK Dons and us didn’t really light up anyone’s evening.

It all started so well for City – a great goal by Danny Mandroiu got us up and running, but eventually, MK’s possession-based game began to grind us down. It turned into a standoff, neither side wishing to threaten the other’s goal. If anything, I thought the visitors came out a little stronger in the second half, but then you’d expect that from a squad that does contain quality, even if it isn’t entirely evident in the league position.

The equaliser had an air of inevitability about it, coming after a hopeful shot took a wicked deflection over Carl Rushworth and into the net. It came after we’d hit the post looking to kill the game off, as the excitement we’d been missing for most of the game got crammed into the last ten or fifteen minutes. That might have had something to do with Ben House coming on, I wouldn’t like to say.

Our fans are divided over the game; most think we had enough to win and let ourselves down, but we’re seemingly undecided whether a point is still a good outcome, given our league position. Had we won, we’d be in the top half of the table now. However, had MK won, they’d have climbed out of the bottom four. Whose shoes would you rather be in?

To give our position as a team unbeaten in eight and knocking on the door of the top half some context, I thought I’d have a look at their fan’s reactions and see if they were as unhappy as our supporters. I think it’s fair to say the answer is yes, as you’ll see below.

The difference, of course, is that we’re ten points clear of the bottom four, not stranded a point adrift, having played more matches than the teams around us.
