It’s fair to say March started well and got gradually worse from there.
We waited long enough for a home win, only for a couple to arrive in quick succession. We looked tight at the back, and loosened up like we’d had a suppository by the end of the month. In total, we played five games and earned four points. We scored three goals but conceded seven.

It’s not a huge surprise that Paudie has won a second Player of the Month award in 2023. He’s been a rock at the back, leading by example, and when I stated what a huge signing he was in the summer, I wasn’t wrong! He bagged two Man of the Match awards, against Exeter and Cheltenham, and even missed a game due to suspension.

After picking up Player of the Month in February, on-loan keeper Carl Rushworth is now lauded for one standout performance, against Oxford at the Bank. It’s the one game this month (bar Posh) we deserved nothing from, and yet we won 1-0. Much of that was due to Rushworth. He faced fives shots and made three good saves, but also commanded his area superbly.

In a month where you win one, draw against a team below you and lose three, the performance of the month is fairly obvious. Considering the last four months have seen us celebrating draws, it’s nice for our best performance to be a win. Danny Mandroiu got the goal, something I think we’ll be saying more and more over the coming 12 months, and it was his first from the spot.
