Freddie Draper and Elicha Ahui are to return to the Imps at the end of their loan spells, as confirmed by The 42

The duo have been on loan with League of Ireland side Drogheda, and both have impressed during their stay in Ireland. Draper recently won Player of the Month, and is the third-highest scorer in the division, despite being sent off in his final game this week. Ahui has had no less of an impact, with rampaging performances from full-back that spark hopes he could also challenge for a spot amongst the Imps first team squad.

Drogs boss Kevin Doherty, who also benefitted from Sam Long and Sean Roughan’s presence last season, confirmed the departure:  “I’d like to thank both players for their outstanding contribution to the club during their time with us. I must also thank Jez George, Director of Football and all at Lincoln City for their ongoing cooperation with us.”

Freddie Draper is a powerful centre-forward who made his first-team debut for the Imps at Hillsborough in the 2020/21 season. He was forced to start numerous league matches during our injury crisis and impressed in a cameo away at eventual champions Wigan, where only a crude foul stopped him notching his first goal for the club. Last season, he was used sparingly, but he did net his first senior goal as we beat Newcastle Under 21s in the EFL Trophy, although he also played in the car crash at Chippenham.

Elicha Ahui came through the shadow scholar programme and surprised many with his only Imps outing, also in the EFL Trophy against Newcastle. He gave a powerful and commanding display, which saw him rewarded with the loan spell in Ireland. He appeared 20 times for the Drogs, netting a goal, and earning rave review.

Both players are now likely to be on the plane to Spain for the Imps pre-season training camp, which see us play Stockport County on July 7th.
