City are once again eyeing the Irish market with an interest in signing 21-year-old attacker Jack Moylan, according to the Irish Independent.
Moylan currently plays for Shelbourne, sixth in the League of Ireland table. That’s the same division as Drogheda and Bohemians, where we’ve sent players before, meaning Moylan is currently halfway through the season. Indeed, Moylan began his career with Bohs, and spent some time on loan with Wexford, before his Shelbourne switch. He’s progressed rapidly in recent years, bagging his first hat trick in May, and he has seven goals in 23 outings this season. His contract is due to expire in December although the season officially finishes in November. However, there is the option for the Imps to offer a fee with a decent sell-on clause to tempt the player to move before the summer window shuts.

City have had success in the Irish market in recent years – Danny Mandroiu was a solid performer last season, whilst Sean Roughan has also impressed since signing from Ireland, and spending loan time there. Previously, we’ve also enjoyed success with the likes of Jeff Hughes and Gareth McAuley. Moylan is billed as an attacking midfielder, but he has been playing centre forward for Shelbourne, and feels very much like a Dylan Duffy figure, perhaps a little further down the line in terms of advancement.
