The club have announced the capture of central defender Alex Mitchell from Millwall on a season-long loan deal.
The 21-year-old is best described as a unit – 6ft 3in tall, tough and uncompromising. He’s had plenty of exposure to first-team football, albeit not with his parent club. In 2020/21, he spent time with Bromley, helping them to the National League play-offs.
A Millwall debut followed; 10 minutes of a League Cup tie against Cambridge, before a season-long loan with Leyton Orient. He appeared 30 times for the O’s, 23 of those starts in League Two. Last season he enjoyed another loan spell, this time at St Johnstone in the Scottish Premier League. He appeared 29 times for the Saints, 25 of which were starts.

Whilst in Scotland, he certainly impressed – he grabbed a late goal for them against Celtic in a crazy game back in October, and at the end of the campaign was named Young Player of the Season. That hasn’t been enough for him to force himself into Millwall’s matchday squad this season, and he comes to Sincil Bank looking to build on his impressive campaign in Scotland.
He said: “This is a great opportunity for me, I’ve had a nice trajectory with my loans with an increase in level each time which has really helped me and I can’t wait to make the step up to League One.
“Everyone at the club has been brilliant – I wanted to come from my first conversation with Jez. I’ve asked ex players and staff about the club and they all only have positive things to say. I’ve had a walk around Lincoln, learning all about the amazing history of the city, and now I can’t wait to get going and am really looking forward to playing for this club.”
