Length Of Imps Attacker’s Absence Revealed

The Imps will be without yet another key attacker in the wake of Saturday’s dismal defeat at the hands of Burton Albion.

Danny Mandroiu was rightly handed a straight red card for a horror tackle on Josh Gordon. In the moments after the challenge, Burton scored the only goal of the game, condemning the Imps to the first home defeat of the season.

It has been revealed that Mandroiu will miss three games, as expected, ruling him out of the trips to Fleetwood and Exeter City and the midweek fixture against Charlton a week on Tuesday. With Tyler Walker and Ben House also absent and Jack Vale not yet match fit, it leaves the Imps even more devoid of attacking options.

The challenge, a needless lunge close to the halfway line, drew the ire of Imps’ head coach Mark Kennedy after the game. He remarked that despite Danny being a ‘good person’, he was far from happy with his actions in the 55th minute.

“What’s disappointing for me is that I’ve had multiple conversations with Danny this week, going through multiple things, so to get the red card so quickly after my conversations, because I’ve had hard conversations with him, is mind-boggling for me to understand. But we’re here to educate him and help him, and not destroy his talent,” said the former Wolves player.

“Danny’s future is simple to me; I don’t know where he’ll be in five years; he could be in the Championship, he could be back in Ireland. So if he changes his mentality and his structure to his game, he’s got incredible talent. he can go wherever he wants to go, but if he doesn’t change that, he’ll just be another statistic.”

The defeat left the Imps on 15 points, seven clear of Fleetwood, who are our hosts at the weekend. The Imps have yet to win at Highbury, having drawn three and lost one of our previous four visits to the north west.
