“No Issue Losing Like That” – Burton Albion Supporters React To Imps Defeat

City grabbed the first win of the campaign at Burton this weekend, in a real game of two halves.

The first was wide open, with plenty of goals and chances at both ends. After taking the lead, the home side were pegged back, only to level before the break in a breathtaking 45 minutes. The second half was more cagey, settled by a late Paudie O’Connor header, giving Michael Skubala’s side all three points.

We always focus on our reaction and how we feel as a club, but what of the opposition? What did they have to say about the game? While I have time, I shall endeavour to bring you a reaction from the other camp during the season. Some clubs have interviews etc easy to access, others do now, so there may only be a couple of snippets.

New Burton boss Mark Robinson felt his side were unlucky. After being headhunted

by new owners NFG (Nordic Football Group) to become Head Coach, his reign got off to a disappointing start in terms of points.

“Everyone’s feeling really disappointed. Not with the performance, there was plenty of positives from the performance,” said Robinson. “It was tough to take, the manner of the goals is something to look at. They’re set plays and second phases, so we’ve got to look at that.”

Ben Whitfield is a new face for the Brewers, as many are. He was once a rumoured target for Danny Cowley and has since become a solid player in the bottom division. He perhaps felt his side deserved more from the game.

“Not the result we probably deserved,” said Whitfield. “Atmosphere, from start to finish, was one of the best I’ve been involved in.”

What of the supporters? They’re being treated to a different brand of football, and despite losing out, there seems to be plenty of optimism around the Pirelli. We’ve gathered some of their reactions from Twitter, and overall, they weren’t too upset at losing to a side that finished seventh last season.
