Imps’ head coach Michael Skubala has been giving some insight into the current injury situation. One key player is expected back for the trip to Peterborough United tomorrow.

City will be looking for our first win at London Road since Amoo caught fire in 2006, and what be only only our third at Peterborough since 1986. It’s a remarkable run – we haven’t scored against Posh in our last four encounters, meaning we need everyone we can get fit and firing.

Speaking to Rob Makepeace this morning, Michael Skubala revealed that Imps midfielder Conor McGrandles would be available for selection this weekend.

“Yeah, he’s back for selection, having returned to training over the last couple of days,” said Michael after Conor missed the game against Stevenage. “So, he’s in contention, which is great—another body back.”

McGrandles has played 67 minutes of the current campaign, but will be hoping for another hour tomorrow at London Road. Sadly, one player who will not be in contention is former Posh midfielder Ethan Hamilton, althoguh there is some good news with him – he’s back on the grass and regaining fitness.

“As for injuries, everything remains the same. Reeco had a minor setback. He was getting closer but had a small issue, though nothing major. The rest is the same.

“Hamo is back on the grass, which is positive. Ethan Hamilton was on the pitch for the first time and got some time with the ball, which is great, though he’s still a ways off. But it’s really good to see him back on the grass.”

The Imps had two players away on international duty last week, defender Sean Roughan and midfielder JJ McKiernan, and both are now back with the Imps.

“Sean is tired,” admitted Michael. “He only got back late last night, and JJ returned yesterday as well. Both of them are pretty tired but played some good minutes, which is great. A couple more players earning caps, which is fantastic from a club perspective.

“However, it’s obviously tough to manage the next few days, figuring out how to get them into the game based on how they’re feeling, which presents a different management challenge.”

One player the Imps will definitely be without is Paudie O’Connor, who was sent off for a second bookable offence in the final fiery few minutes at the Lamex. The captain’s armband is likely to pass to Adam Jackson, with Tom Hamer tipped to come into the side for his first League One start for City since his summer move from Burton Albion.

The Imp’s last win against Posh came on New Year’s Day, 2020, when Jorge Grant’s free-kick snatched victory from the jaws of a draw. Our last victory at London Road came courtesy of Ryan Amoo’s brace, either side of a Peter Gain goal for the home side. Our last win to nil was in October 1986, three weeks after my first-ever game at Sincil Bank, when Gary Strodder gave us a victory.
