This was once our Player of the Month article, but I’ve opted to turn it into a bit more of a monthly review, albeit quite a brief one!
September was an alright month, with one win, one defeat and two draws. Importantly, the defeat was in the BSM Trophy, so we remained unbeaten in the league, with five points from a possible nine.

As you know by now, The Stacey West allows the reader to rate each player after a game, coming up with a definite Player of the Month. To qualify, a player must have played in 50% of the games that month, and to get a rating a player must have been on the field of play for 15 minutes or more as a sub.
With that in mind, here is your Player of the Month and the best and worst of the team’s performances.

Player of the Month
1: Ethan Erhahon (7.63)

It would be hard to argue against this man being Player of the Month – this is the fourth time he has won it since he joined the club, surpassing Adam Jackson, Regan Poole and Paudie O’Connor as the most regular winner.
He won three Man of the Macth awards from the four available from you this month, securing the highest individual rating for his show against Cambridge United.
The best of the rest were 2: Adam Jackson (7.50), 3: Sean Roughan (7.30), 4: Tendayi Dairkwa (7.30), 5: Jack Moylan (7.18)
Individual Performance of the Month
Ethan Erhahon (Cambridge United) 8.3

This is really odd. In our 3-0 win there last season, Ethan Erhahon was your Man of the Match with a rating of 8.30. This season? Same again.
He was outstanding against The U’s, he looked head and shoulders above their midfield and he definitely powered us towards the win.
Best Team Performance of the Month
v Cambridge United (A) 7.14

It was our only win, but in times gone by, a draw has snatched best performance, so it’s nice to see us getting recognition for the games we won when we should win. That’s a bold statement: to have a game you should win, but right now, Cambridge United are the whipping boys, and this was a big one.
We beat the club record for the most away games without defeat, and we scored a couple of goals at the same time. It was a nice way to round off an otherwise winless month.
Worst Team Performance of the Month
Chesterfield (H) – 5.71

I’m going to hypothesise that, if we have to have a ‘weakest’ performance each month, it’s surely best that it comes in the EFL Trophy. No points were at stake, and while losing against a League Two side is seemingly catching in the cup this season, I didn’t shed any tears at this.
I’d rather lose tomorrow night against Grimsby and beat Birmingham a week on Saturday, that is for damn sure.
