‘In a Bad Way’ – Michael Skubala Issues Adam Jackson Injury Update

Lincoln City head coach Michael Skubala has updated supporters on Adam Jackson’s condition, and it’s not good news.

Jacko was smashed in the head by Hakeem Odoffin just minutes into his first start since returning from injury, and just 45 seconds after being unfairly clattered into by Jonson Clarke-Harris. The match referee for the clash with Rotherham (if you can call him that), Martin Woods, didn’t deem it an unfair challenge, but it left Jacko prone on the ground.

It later emerged that he was forced to go to A&E and spent the night in hospital after the challenge and suffered significant facial injuries. He’s clearly going to be out for a while, joining Tom Hamer on the injured list and leaving us with just three fit centre-backs.

“Jacko’s got some big damage on his face, which I thought was pretty poor when I looked at it back,” said Michael in his pre-match press conference.

“I didn’t see it on the day, but I thought the challenge was pretty poor. It’s not the first time that teams get away with that sort of stuff, so it’s really disappointing. Not for the game, losing the game, but he’s in a bad way. So we’ve got to assess how long that is. He’s got some damage around his eye socket, so we’ll see.”

Reflecting on the game on Tuesday, Michael admitted some elements were tough to deal with, labelling some of the Millers’ tactics ‘a bit naughty’. I’d go further, but I think my feelings have been made very clear.

“It’s hard to deal with elbows and things flying around, which I think’s a bit naughty, really,” concluded Michael. “But that’s part of football. That’s part of it. We have to get on with it.

“But it puts us under more pressure in the centre half situation at the moment that we would have liked. More than anything, Jacko had just come back.”

It is tough to see Jacko just coming back and getting smashed again, and it’s not the first time either – Daniel Udoh took him out a year or two ago with an elbow which went unpunished. While Michael won’t say it, Odoffin’s challenge was a disgrace that should have been punished with a red card.
