Lincoln City January Review

Credit Graham Burrell

January was something of a mixed month for the Imps.

Beating Peterborough 5-1 was a highlight, but opening with a dismal defeat against Rotherham didn’t really get 2025 off to a good start. We exited two cups in a week, and racked up four losses, a draw and two wins in total.

In terms of goals, we scored seven, conceded seven and picked up seven points in the league from an available 15. It wasn’t a terrible month, nor a good one.

01 Jan 202 Lincoln 0 – 1 Rotherham
04 Jan 2025 Lincoln 0 – 0 Stevenage
11 Jan 2025 Birmingham 2 – 1 Lincoln
14 Jan 2025 Lincoln 0 – 1 Bolton
18 Jan 2025 Northampton 0 – 1 Lincoln
25 Jan 2025 Lincoln 5 – 1 Peterborough
28 Jan 2025 Lincoln 0 – 2 Blackpool

As you know by now, The Stacey West allows the reader to rate each player after a game, coming up with a definite Player of the Month. To qualify, a player must have played in 50% of the games that month, and to get a rating a player must have been on the field of play for 15 minutes or more as a sub.

With that in mind, here is your Player of the Month and the best and worst of the team’s performances.

Player of the Month

Paudie O’Connor (6.97)

In a month where his future was more of a talking point than his performances, Paudie still came good on the field. This was a bad month for average ratings – 11 players scored lower than six. That does slightly reflect supporter apathy I feel, but the cream still rises to the top. George Wickens (7.1) had a good month, but only played twice.

Individual Performance of the Month

Ethan Erhahon (Peterborough United H) 8.1

Ethan Erhahon picked up the best performance, but it’s a surprise that in a 5-1 win against Posh, only one player hit a score of more than eight. Erhahon’s injury is bad timing and he’s going to be badly missed in the coming weeks.

Best Team Performance of the Month

v Peterborough United (H) 7.39

Goals galore and of course, our biggest win against Posh. The fact this got a relatively low score (lower, for example, than our 0-0 draw with the same opposition twelve months earlier) is probably a reflection of two things. One, supporters currently feeling very negative about the side, for some reason, and two the fact it was an awful Posh side.

Worst Team Performance of the Month

Bolton Wanderers (H) – 5.09

For the second month in a row, we save our worst performance of the month for Bolton Wanderers. Well, that is what supporters have said, so who am I to argue? I thought we were alright in this game, and the actual worst performance was Rotherham on New Year’s Day, but what do I know, right?
