Imps forward Bailey Cadamarteri is nearing a return to action after recovering from injury, according to the Sheffield Star.
The 19-year-old has been sidelined since mid-January when he appeared in the Imps’ cup defeat against Bolton Wanderers. It was soon after that match that it was confirmed Cadamarteri would be out for around six weeks with an adductor injury.

With his recovery on track, the talented forward has made significant progress since undergoing scans last week, and could be back in contention for first-team duties before the end of February.
Despite missing several games, Cadamarteri remains the club’s top scorer across all competitions, with eight goals to his name. His absence has not been felt too much by the Imps, as James Collins has filled in, but we’re now given the tempting prospect of him pairing with our signing from Derby. With City 10 points adrift of the top six, the return of our leading scorer will provide a much-needed boost as we seek to close the gap.

Having returned to Sheffield Wednesday’s Middlewood Road for rehabilitation, Cadamarteri is expected to rejoin us at the EPC this week for the final stages of his recovery. While the upcoming game against Burton Albion may come too soon for him, the fixture against Barnsley on March 1st could be the perfect opportunity for his comeback.
His return is likely to see him immediately back in the squad, not least with Jovon’s recent switch to the wing, leaving us with Ben House, Freddie Draper and James Collins as options. It will be fascinating to see how he links up with Collins, who is already scoring goals and driving standards across the squad.

Cadamarteri joined City on a season-long loan from Sheffield Wednesday in August 2024. He took a little time to settle, making an impact by scoring his first goal for the Imps in a 2–0 victory over Cambridge United on September 28, 2024.
He’s also hit winners against Stockport and Morecambe in the EFL Trophy, as well as netting in the first minute against Birmingham City. His last Imps goal came in the 2-0 win against Reading before Christmas.
