The Stacey West Patreons Sponsor Erik Ring

The Stacey West Patreons will be the proud sponsors of Erik Ring‘s home and away kits this season.

Thanks to an overseas Imps’ family, The Stacey West has been a player sponsor for several seasons now. In 2023/24, as a site, we sponsored Ethan Erhahon’s away kit, and in the past, we’ve also had Danny Rowe and others. This season, a group of fans who are patrons of the site suggested on our Discord channel that we should sponsor a player, and we picked Erik Ring.

Many of our members chipped in, so this isn’t just a site thing, it’s a coming together of site patrons wanting to put their money into the club. The SW management (me, basically) are incredibly grateful to have such a great following.

We really like Erik here at the site. It was a story we were at the front of breaking, thanks to my insistence on translating Swedish news reports for a few weeks. I even had a call from one of the recruitment team while they were in Stockholm, giving me an update, because of the constant probing! It was pretty cool to be honest, and it made me take a real interest in Erik when he signed.

He drifted in and out of the team, but I think his first season had a lot of promise. I’ve likened him to Jeff Hughes on numerous occasions, in that he’s come into the English game from another country, and settling hasn’t been instant. However, there are some raw attributes I like – pace, and eagerness to take people on and a penchant for the unpredictable and outstanding.

There’s also our shift in system, going with dedicated wide attacking players in a 4-2-3-1, which I think suits Erik. I firmly believe he has the ability to nail down a spot in the wide areas, and if he does, maybe he’ll add to his five league goal involvements from 24 outings. If you think about it, over the course of the season, his ratio was ten goal involvements, and that is not to be sniffed at.

As his home and away shirt sponsors, we’ll be taking a special interest in Erik over the course of the season, and we’re all delighted to have our names against his wherever they’re listed now. Hopefully, if the club do a Christmas album or something, they’ll be listed in there as a permanent reminder.
