Daryl Clare

This is one you may or may not be aware of. In fact, it may or may not be true. This is part hearsay, part fact.

At some point, I was told Daryl Clare was signing for Lincoln City. He made his name with Grimsby before a move to Boston in 2001. He helped them to promotion, then moved to Chester City, where he scored 48 times in 62 matches, before having a nomadic career at Burton, Bsoton and Rushden, to name but a few.

Now, I’m told he was a target for the Imps at some point during that spell. I was told, at the time, that he went to the ground to sign and was sitting outside in his car when a better offer came through. All I recall is that it was during Keith’s years, so it may have been after Boston transfer-listed him for allegedly refusing to be a sub during one of their matches. Sadly, I can’t remember exactly when it was, and as it was pre-StaceyWest.net, I have no record of it.

After a spell with Alfreton on loan, he trained with us in the summer of 2011 but never pulled on City colours.
