Imps First £1 Million Player Backed For Start With Norwich City

All eyes are on us, obviously, but indulge me.

We’ve just swept aside a club that were in the Premier League 495 days ago, and tomorrow we face the World Champions at Sincil Bank. It’s pretty crazy when you think about it, and while we don’t always look back, ten years ago today we drew 1-1 with Altrincham at Sincil Bank.

That came on the back of a summer where, once again, players left for free, players came in for free and not much else happened in terms of transfers. This summer, we saw a player depart for more than £1 million, and already, he’s causing waves at his new club.

So, while we focus on us this week, and rightly so, I’m going to give a little nod to Jovon Makama, who bagged his first goal in the yellow and green or Norwich City this weekend.

The Canaries are struggling, and Jovon’s goal came in the last minute with them already 3-1 down against Wrexham. After Liam Gibbs’ drive was parried by Wrexham stopper Okonkwo, Jovon stepped in to sweep home. His first Championship goal was a big moment, but rather than celebrate, he grabbed the ball and headed back for the centre spot.

It came after the former Imps’ man had seen just 64 minutes of Championship action, but for some Norwich City fans, that is enough. They’re 14th in the table, but already Liam Mannig is fielding tough questions, and supporters seem eager for change.

Ante Crnac cost around nine times what they paid us for Makama, but he’s getting the brunt of the fans anger. One major thing some want to change is Jovon’s game time, and the Croatian would be the man they want to shift on.

After Jovon’s goal, their supporters flocked to social media to praise our academy graduate. It’s nice to see, Jovon was a lovely lad, and for one of our players to move to the Championship and make an impact is refreshing.
