A number of former Imps were in action this weekend, with some notable performances.
Harry Anderson topped the list of former Imps impressing this weekend – his first-half hat trick helped Colchester United to a 3-1 victory against Harrogate Town in the battle of clubs managed by former Imps. Jack Payne got an assist as The U’s fought back from conceding in the third minute.
Charles Vernam continued his fine form for the Codheads as they beat nine-man Gillingham 1-0. He struck a 58th-minute penalty, with the visitors having been reduced to ten on 33 minutes when Remeao Hutton fouled Jaze Kabia, son of former Imp Jason Kabia. They dropped to nine after 63 minutes, Jonny Williams sent off for a second bookable. The win lifts David Artell’s Cods up to third.

Sam Clucas gave Michael Appleton something to smile about as he served up an 84th-minute assist for Shrewsbury as they beat ten-man Crawley 1-0. It was the second assist by Clucas in as many games – he also teed up Boyle last weekend, meaning Salop now have back-to-back victories.
I’m not always going to dip into non-league, but I am today for a couple of reasons. Chris Bush is a blast from the past, but he’s still doing it in the National League. He provided an assist for Boreham Wood as they beat Eastleigh 2-0.
When talking about blasts from the past, how about this: ‘his name is a shop’ Lenny John Lewis bagged for Boston United as they drew 1-1 with Scunthorpe United at the Jakeman’s Stadium in a Lincolnshire Derby. I heard Radio Lincolnshire call it ‘the’ Lincolnshire Derby. No, that is us and the Cods and if they keep going, they might have a chance of appearing at the Bank next season.

Harry Boyes might not have cut it at the Bank, but he’s proving something of a hit in Essex. He bagged two assists as Southend beat Morecambe 3-0, lifting them to seventh in the table.
Lastly in the National League, Jay Benn got an assist and Vadaine Oliver got a goal for Hartlepool, but the troubled Monkey Hangers still only drew 3-3 with Sutton United.

Finally, because it’s a great story, Jack McMenemy was on fire again. You may remember in midweek, he scored four and still ended up on the losing side as Bottesford went down 7-6 against Frickley. The former Imps’ trainee made it eight in a week, smashing four more against Pickering Town, only this time, his side actually won, 5-1!
What of our Imps out on loan?
Zane Okoro continued to impress for Coleraine, scoring as they beat Dungannon Swifts 4-0. He opened the scoring on 13 minutes, and he played a key role in the second, eventually turned into his own net by Caolan Marron. They eventually won 4-0, and remain top of the NIFL Premier League.

MJ Kamara was on the bench for Glentoran as they won 2-0 against Ballymena to keep the pressure on Coleraine, and there was a story at the bottom as well – former Imps Michael O’Connor recently took over at doomed Glenavon, and he oversaw their first win this season, after 11 straight defeats. They still remain bottom of the table, seven points adrift of Crusaders, having played two games more.
Gbolahan Okewoye didn’t feature as Billericay drew 2-2 away at Chichester Town.
Finally, JJ McKiernan was a sub as Burton went down 1-0 at home against ten-man Peterborough. He came on at half time, only to be withdrawn on 76 minutes.
