Imps League One Rivals Appoint New Boss And We Know What To Expect!

Imps fans will be utterly delighted to hear that Ian Evatt has returned to League One.

Blackpool have confirmed the appointment of Evatt as their new head coach this morning, handing the 43-year-old a contract running until June 2028 and marking an emotional return to Bloomfield Road for the promotion-winning former defender.

Of course, we remember him from his time and Bolton, where he played the role of a beefcake Steve Evans, always the victim, putting out sides that were annoyingly good and annoyingly adept at the dark arts. Rats.

Evatt arrives after a two-week search to replace Steve Bruce, who departed earlier this month, and inherits a side sitting 24th in League One with just two wins from 13 games.

His first task comes away at Peterborough United on Saturday, a crucial fixture between the league’s bottom two clubs, and, let’s be honest, that’s pretty funny.

Evatt’s Return Brings Hope and Familiarity

The former Bolton Wanderers boss enjoyed managerial success with both Barrow and Bolton, leading each to promotion while also winning the EFL Trophy. Blackpool’s hierarchy have turned to his front-foot, possession-based style in the hope of restoring energy and identity to a struggling team.

On his appointment, Evatt expressed both pride and excitement at rejoining the club.

“It’s incredibly emotional to return here and to be given this opportunity. I know first-hand what this Club and its supporters can achieve together. We all want to see fearless attacking football where Bloomfield Road is a really tough place for any team to play.

“It’s a real honour to be back here as Head Coach and I cannot wait to meet the players and to get started.”

Sadler Hails “Ideal Fit” for the Seasiders

Owner Simon Sadler described Evatt’s appointment as a key step in Blackpool’s reset and a move tailored to the existing squad’s strengths.

“I’m delighted to welcome Ian back to the football club, in what is a vital appointment. His impressive managerial record at this level, strong technical knowledge of the game alongside a passion and enthusiasm to return to the Club makes him the ideal fit.”

The Seasiders will now hope Evatt’s attacking principles and connection with supporters can spark an upturn in form and revive their season.

Imps fans will hope he doesn’t get Blackpool looking too much like his old Bolton side before December 13th, when we visit Bloomfield Road.
