Five Cowley era players who would have been right at home playing for Big Keith

Jack Muldoon

How Keith loved a tryer. He loved a player who would introduce a bit of the unknown, not necessarily a big man or a baller or even a prolific player, just someone with an unknown quality.

Think Niall McNamara, Allan Pearce, Derek Asamoah and even Danny Bacon. They didn’t all work out, but they brought an honesty to the forward line, a limited ability with a proper work ethic and application. For me, that sums up Jack Muldoon.

I can’t say a bad word about Jack; his winner against Solihull Moors when Theo Robinson went AWOL summed him up. He waited in the wings, never getting a run at first team football but always proving his worth when he got minutes. I would have loved for us to win the FA Trophy that year, just so Jack got a reward for his endeavours.

I can see him on the right of the three-man forward line of Keith’s, running the Chris Cornelly role and popping up with ten a season.
