Imps’ summer signing, Oscar Thorn, has undergone surgery to correct an ankle problem.
The 21-year-old posted on his Instagram stories yesterday, showing his right leg in plaster, with the caption ‘surgery successful, road to recovery’.
It’s a pre-planned operation which has been timed, rather than suddenly picked up, to give the right winger a chance at being fit and fresh after Christmas.
In his pre-match press conference, Michael Skubala said of the operation:
“Oscar’s had a bit of an ankle for the last month and a half where he’s managed it through training. He’s managed it through games.
“He felt it again at Barnsey which was a shame. It’s one of those injuries which unless you have surgery you can’t get rid of. So him, myself, the club and the medical team think it’s probably the best time for him to have it and it will put him out for quite a few months.
“It’s not a small injury, but we did know that before Oscar came here. So it’s not something that’s new to us. It was something when we signed we thought he might have to have surgery. So he’s going to go under the knife tomorrow. He will come back stronger and ready to go, you know, after Christmas time.”
It feels a lot like the situation with Dom Jefferies, who had an issue that needed corrective surgery but was able to play on un til the time was right for an operation at the end of last season.

Oscar emerged through the youth ranks at Arsenal, spending his early development years with the Premier League club before moving into non-league football with Billericay Town and Bowers & Pitsea. His performances at that level earned him a scholarship at Norwich City in 2020, where he signed his first professional contract.
In January 2023, he joined Colchester United on a permanent deal before loans saw him gain experience at Bath City and Chelmsford City. He returned to Colchester and made his league debut in October 2024, providing an assist in a 1–1 draw against Chesterfield.
He joined City over the summer for an undisclosed fee, and has looked good in his brief cameos for the Imps. He’s appeared six times, making his debut in the 1-1 draw against Mansfield Town at the Bank. He’s twice completed 90 minutes, most recently as we beat Barnsley in the EFL Trophy.
Everyone at the Stacey West wishes him the very best of luck with his recovery.
