Luton Town Agree Deal For Premier League Talent

Luton Town have reportedly agreed a loan deal to sign young forward Emilio Lawrence from Manchester City, with the Hatters set to make an early move in the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old attacker is understood to be heading to Kenilworth Road after an agreement was reached between the two clubs, as Luton look to add pace, flexibility and attacking depth for the second half of the campaign. If the deal is completed, he could appear against the Imps for the Hatters a week on Saturday.

Lawrence joined City in October 2022 after progressing through the academy system at Everton, where he had been highly regarded from a young age. He made his U18s Premier League debut for the Toffees at just 15-years-old, featuring four times and scoring once, before continuing his development in the FA Youth Cup and Premier League 2.

Since arriving at the Etihad, the Manchester-born forward has worked across multiple academy levels, featuring in the U18s, Premier League 2 and cup competitions. His standout campaign came during the 2024-25 season, when he registered seven goals and seven assists in 18 Premier League 2 appearances, underlining his creative output as well as his finishing ability.

This season, Lawrence has continued to gain experience with City’s U21s, making appearances in the EFL Trophy, Premier League 2, Premier League International Cup and UEFA Youth League. His versatility across the front line has been a consistent theme of his development, with City viewing him as a wide attacker capable of operating centrally when required.

Internationally, Lawrence has represented England at youth level before switching allegiance to Scotland. He has featured for Scotland’s U21 side and made headlines in October 2025 when he scored four times in a 12-0 European Championship qualifying win over Gibraltar, further enhancing his profile.

The move is expected to give Lawrence his first sustained exposure to senior league football, something Luton Town boss Jack Wilshere is keen to provide as he reshapes his squad. The Hatters currently sit outside of the top six, four points shy of Stockport County,a position few expected them to be in when the season started.

They’re 13 points behind us, albeit having played a game more, with approximately four times our wage budget.
