25-Year-Old Makes Lincoln City Return

Imps keeper Jamie Pardington has returned to the club following his loan spell at Oxford City.

Pardington, who is 25 and yet looks and feels a lot younger, has been on loan with the National League North club for the last month or so. Hailing from the famously northern city of Oxford, the Hoops have been in a relegation battle, but Pardington has been a solid presence.

He made an immediate impact, putting in a man-of-the-match performance and keeping a clean sheet away at Marine, one of two he kept during his spell there.

His stint away was the third he’s had as a City player, having also been at Peterborough Sports, against whom he kept a clean sheet recently, and AFC Telford United, whom he played once for in the FA Cup, and then faced for Oxford, conceding four.

It will be interesting to see what City do next with him. Zack Jeacock is clearly the favoured number two to George Wickens, but with no cup games left, one wonders if we might keep Pardington on the bench, and loan Zack out somewhere. Of course, that would probably be League Two, and then we’d need to make sure we could recall him if we needed to.

Otherwise, a third loan spell seems sensible for Pardington, perhaps at National League level if we can find the right club.

Pardington has often found himself playing understudy, and he’s had quite a varied career. He’s been with Wolves, Grimsby, Larne and Cheltenham, as well as having a trial at Sheffield Wendesday in 2022. He’s had loan spells with the likes of Dulwich Hamlet, Truro City and Bath City, but only has three EFL appearances to his name – two on loan at Mansfield Town and one for Grimsby.
