Lincoln City Management Team Win Manager of the Month

The Lincoln City management team, headed by Michael Skubala, has been named the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month for January.

It was a second straight unbeaten month for the team, earning 14 points from six unbeaten matches to move into the automatic promotion places. They won tight games to sit alongside three-goal victories over Peterborough and Bradford, and in truth, it could easily have been the third time he won, having been pipped last time out by Cardiff City, a team we beat in their great month.

As Michael pointed out, it is a team effort, rather than a single achievement by the manager.

“It is a real team effort, and we have a talented group of players and staff who put in 100% effort every day for this club. That applies to every person at the Gen 2 Energy Elite Performance Centre or the LNER Stadium – they are aligned in their belief that there is more to come on our journey.

“We had a great January but recognise there’s plenty of football still to be played, and know it’ll take a lot of hard work and effort over the remaining 16 games to maintain our performances and results.”

Danny Wilson, once a Manager of the Month himself, chairs the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month judging panel. He said

“Another unbeaten month for Michael’s ‘Red Imps’ team, including a 3-0 win against fellow promotion candidates, Bradford City. Lincoln move into the automatic promotion place showing no sign of letting up.”

Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said:

“It’s now two months unbeaten for Michael Skubala as Lincoln and Cardiff continue to set the pace in League One. His team have become experts at finding a way to win and are showing all the credentials required to push Cardiff all the way for the title and at the very least seal automatic promotion!”

Jack Moylan missed out on Player of the Month, pipped by Dom Ballard in a decision that probably feels right.
