League One Latest: Barnsley Man Faces Music, Rotherham United Coach Leaves

Peterborough United handed possible Woods boost

Peterborough United have confirmed midfielder Ben Woods is making his comeback in an under-21 match and could return to the senior squad for Good Friday’s trip to Luton Town.

Woods has not played since injuring his calf in the New Year’s Day League One win at Rotherham, although he had been seen running on the pitch before Saturday’s game at AFC Wimbledon. His involvement for the under-21s is the clearest sign yet that his wait is nearly over.

For Peterborough, that is welcome news. The run-in is rarely just about who is in form, it is also about who is available, and Woods coming back into the picture would give Darren Ferguson another option in a side that can still be dangerous on its day.

Peterborough also named several first-team squad regulars in the under-21 group, but Woods is the standout story because of how long he has been absent. If he gets through the game cleanly, Posh will have one more experienced body ready for a demanding finish.
