Four Key Periods That Have Led Lincoln City To The Cusp Of Promotion

There is no doubt that we have moved to within touching distance of the Championship, not because of four key periods, but because we’ve been relentless every game.

Of course, it is three points, one game after another, that have put us here. Michael Skubala always tells you that, and he’s right. A game is won and lost over 90 minutes, not just the three-minute period in which a couple of goals are scored. A game hinges on moments, but if you’re good over 90 minutes, you’ll create the moments to score. A season is the same; it feels like it hinges on certain matches and periods, as it feels as if promotion hangs in the balance this Easter, but it doesn’t.

That said, I have a feeling that when the story of this season is told, there will be four key periods that (currently) define the success. Four periods that I felt we could stumble in, and that we came out of better and stronger, each time underlining our promotion credentials, until there were four bold, hard underlines sitting beneath Lincoln City, and far fewer under everyone else.

Nothing is won and lost just yet, and we may add another period to these four in the story of the season, but here are the four periods that I feel have led us to the cusp of the Championship, unsailed seas for the good ship Lincoln City.
