Championship Roundup: Sheffield Wednesday Plot Striker Move, Birmingham City Line Up New Boss

Sheffield Wednesday eye Birmingham youngster after trial

Sheffield Wednesday are weighing up a move for Birmingham City forward Frank Tattum following an encouraging trial period.

The 20-year-old featured for the Owls’ Under-21 side during the week, scoring in one outing and contributing in another, while also spending time training with the senior squad. His performances have reportedly caught the attention of those at Hillsborough as they begin to shape plans for the summer.

Tattum’s contract situation could open the door for a deal, with indications that Birmingham may not activate an extension clause. However, any move is likely to depend on developments off the pitch at Wednesday, with prospective new ownership expected to dictate the scale and direction of recruitment once the window opens.

His spell with Wednesday is understood to have been influenced in part by first-team assistant Pete Shuttleworth, a former Birmingham coach, and he will now return to continue his loan with Leamington for the rest of the season. The youngster is believed to have pushed for that move to gain experience and has delivered a solid return in difficult circumstances, scoring five goals in 22 appearances.
