Boston Town made history this weekend, sealing the first promotion in their history with a stunning title-clinching victory.
It was a weekend that delivered drama at both ends of the table across Lincolnshire’s non-league scene, with play-off races tightening and relegation battles still hanging in the balance.
Boston knew a win against Hucknall Town would secure the title after a productive Easter, and they delivered in emphatic fashion. There were no nerves on show as they took control early, with Tate opening the scoring in the 29th minute with a superb strike from distance. That set the tone, but what followed after the break was remarkable. Five second-half goals from Zak Munton, an own goal, Matt Cotton, Harry Limb, and a last-gasp effort from Jordon Nuttall completed a 6-0 rout, sparking celebrations among the 350 supporters in attendance. It is a landmark moment for the club, and richly deserved.
Grantham Town remain in the hunt to join them via the play-offs, and ensured a home semi-final with a 3-1 win against Kimberley Welfare. Cameron Johnson opened the scoring after 17 minutes, with Lee Shaw doubling the advantage soon after. Andrew Wright made it three before the half-hour mark, effectively putting the game beyond reach despite a Kimberley reply before the break. The result sets up a home tie with Belper on April 25, and keeps promotion hopes alive. Elsewhere in the division, Skegness fell to a 2-1 home defeat against Ashby Ivanhoe despite taking an early lead, while Harrowby’s difficult season ended in relegation following a 4-1 loss at Melton.

Boston United, safe from the drop, edged past already-relegated Truro City 1-0 thanks to an early goal from Jordy Hiwula. However, the performance did not impress manager Paul Hurst, who was openly critical despite the result, suggesting some players have much to prove before the season concludes.
Gainsborough Trinity’s play-off ambitions suffered a setback with defeat at Lancaster City. Despite a strong first half, in which Harvey Sutcliffe made his full debut, Trinity failed to convert their chances. Two quick goals early in the second half ultimately decided the contest, leaving Trinity clinging to the final play-off place with two games remaining.
Lincoln United endured a difficult afternoon at Hallam, falling to a heavy defeat after a slow start saw them 2-0 down at the break. The hosts added three more goals in the second half to complete a comprehensive win, leaving United looking to respond positively in the remaining fixtures.
Spalding United missed the chance to strengthen their play-off position after a disappointing 3-1 defeat at home to Stratford Town. An early setback was quickly cancelled out by Fowkes, but despite dominating large spells, they fell behind again early in the second half. A third goal sealed the defeat, with manager Jimmy Dean labelling it the worst performance of his tenure and calling for a response.
At the bottom end, Stamford picked up a valuable point in a goalless draw at Bury Town, maintaining a three-point cushion above the relegation places. Sleaford Town and Pinchbeck United also shared points, with Sleaford twice coming from behind against Holwell Sports thanks to two goals from Kyle Onyon, including a dramatic late equaliser. Pinchbeck earned a steady goalless draw at Coalville Town, keeping them just above Sleaford as the season nears its conclusion.
There is still plenty to be decided across the non-league pyramid, but for now, the spotlight belongs to Boston Town, whose historic promotion is a moment to savour for everyone connected with the club.
