Swansea planning careful summer rather than overhaul
Vitor Matos says Swansea City must avoid another major rebuild, with the head coach insisting the club already has a base to build from.
Swansea have been busy in recent summer windows, but Matos believes the next stage should be about adding depth and improving specific areas rather than changing the squad dramatically again.
Loan departures are expected to shape part of their work, while interest in Zan Vipotnik could become one of the main talking points after an impressive goalscoring season.
“It’s not about changing 14 players and getting 14 new ones, the base is there, the foundations are here.
“It’s quite clear the need for depth in the squad, that’s quite clear for everyone and I think that’s something that we need to take care of.
“Looking what positions we want to strengthen, which kind of profiles we want, that’s how it will be. It’s to try to improve what we have and I think that’s what everyone wants.”
Matos also suggested pre-season itself could be as important as any signing, given the limited training time he has had since taking charge.
