5th – George Moulson – Ireland, 1948
Con’s brother, George Moulson, also represented both Ireland and Lincoln, playing three times for the national side as a goalkeeper, all while at Lincoln. He appeared against Spain, Portugal and Switzerland, two outings coming in May 1948 and one in December of the same year.
George played 60 times for the Imps, winning Division Three (North) in 1948, and playing half the following season as we were relegated – all his caps came after third-tier promotion, much like Jack Moylan’s.
Earlier in his career, Moulson featured for Grimsby Town and was in goal for their famous 1939 FA Cup semi-final defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford, a match still remembered for the record attendance and the injury that left the Mariners playing with 10 men.
