After failing to qualify for the World Cup, Ireland are ranked 59th in the world, below Iraq and Qatar, which feels a bit harsh. Many of their players are Championship or higher, like Jake O’Brien and Matt Doherty, so Moylan’s shout is big.
He might have got the nod earlier in the season, rumoured to have just missed out, and while the current squad is experimental, missing many of the big names, a significant showing should keep the 24-year-old in mind for the future.
