Former Lincoln City goalkeeper Lukas Jensen has made his long-awaited return to Millwall’s senior side after starting their opening pre-season friendly against FC Andorra.
The Danish stopper played the first hour of the contest at the Pinatar Arena, his first appearance for the Lions’ senior team since suffering a serious Achilles injury in April 2025.
The former Imp was called into action during the opening half, producing a sprawling save to deny Marc Domenech from a free-kick after 20 minutes. That helped Millwall reach the interval without conceding, although Josh Coburn had also struck the post at the other end.
Jensen was replaced by George Evans as Millwall made nine changes on the hour mark, with Alex Neil’s side eventually falling to a 2-1 defeat against the Spanish second-tier outfit.
Mathis Servais eventually put the Lions ahead with a powerful effort from outside the penalty area, but Andorra responded through Stefan Golubovic before Nacho Quintana capitalised on an under-hit back-pass to score the winner. For Jensen, simply returning to the starting XI represented another significant moment following a lengthy and frustrating rehabilitation.
The 27-year-old suffered a torn Achilles during a Millwall training session in April 2025, an injury which ruled him out for an indefinite period. He subsequently returned to training and featured for the club’s younger side, only to face another interruption to his progress.
He obviously remains a player of interest to the Imps because of the potential financial benefit attached to his future. We reportedly secured a sell-on clause when he moved to The Den for a fee believed to be around £400,000 in July 2024.
A prolonged spell on the sidelines naturally reduced the likelihood of Millwall receiving approaches for the goalkeeper, but a successful return could eventually restore his value. Should he reclaim his place, reproduce his previous form and earn another significant transfer, City may be entitled to a percentage of the profit.
Jensen joined Lincoln permanently in 2023 following his release by Burnley and played 45 league matches during his only season at Sincil Bank. He was named City’s Player of the Season after establishing himself as one of League One’s most effective goalkeepers.
His performances earned him a move to Millwall, where he went on to make 41 Championship appearances before his injury. He last appeared for them back in April 2025 and almost returned to action in December before suffering a setback in his rehabilitation.
There is still a considerable journey ahead before Jensen is back competing regularly, but an hour against FC Andorra was a welcome landmark. Who knows, we might get to see Jensen in action at the Bank this season, with the Lions due in LN5 on January 16th.
