‘I’ll Make The Right Call’ – Lincoln City Transfer Target Latest

The reported Lincoln City pursuit of Tyrese Shade remains unresolved, with Burton Albion head coach Gary Bowyer confirming there have been no further developments over the winger’s future.

City have reportedly seen several offers for the 26-year-old rejected this summer, with the bids thought to have been worth around £2 million. Burton appear resigned to losing Shade before the transfer window closes, although their valuation has so far prevented any interested club from completing a deal.

Speaking to BBC Derby Sport, Bowyer confirmed that Shade had trained normally throughout the week and that he was unaware of any progress in negotiations.

“Tyrese has trained all week. There’s been no further developments as far as I’m aware. I’ve not heard anything today in terms of if he’s changed or anything like that.”

The situation leaves Bowyer with a decision to make over Shade’s involvement. While the attacker remains available and under contract, the continued uncertainty surrounding his future could influence whether Burton select one of their most valuable players.

“My gripe about the situation with the window being open is exactly that. It’s not fair on the players as well.

“I’ll have a chat with him tomorrow and see where he’s at with that and, you know, judge it off how he is and make the right call for the team.”

Shade joined Burton from Eastleigh in July 2025 after scoring 14 times in 43 National League appearances during the previous campaign. Eastleigh received a club-record fee for the Saint Kitts and Nevis international, who subsequently recorded 14 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions during his first season at the Pirelli Stadium. Nine of those goals came in League One.

His form inevitably attracted Championship attention. Lincoln have been the club most persistently linked with him, although Portsmouth and Charlton Athletic have since been credited with an interest. That competition may strengthen Burton’s position as they seek to maximise their return on a player whose current contract runs until the summer of 2027.
