Lincoln Women have been drawn at home to Halifax in the first round proper of the Women’s FA Cup, with the tie scheduled for Sunday 25 October.
Tom Padden’s side booked their place with a 3-0 victory over Your Potential Academy on Sunday, continuing a cup run in which they have yet to concede a goal.
It is a significant occasion for the club, competing in the competition for the first time under the Lincoln Women FC name. Having successfully negotiated qualifying, they now have home advantage as they look to extend their run.
Confirming the draw on social media, the club said:
“We will face Halifax in a home fixture on Sunday 25th October. Further details to follow.”
Halifax will provide a test for Lincoln, playing a level above our women at Step 4. They currently sit third in their division, having recorded four wins and a single defeat, while Lincoln are also third in their Step 5 division with two victories and one loss.
The visitors secured their own passage into the first round proper with a 4-0 victory at Myra Shay on Sunday. Both sides therefore came through their latest cup outings with convincing wins and clean sheets, although Lincoln will have to overcome the gap between the divisions to progress.
Ahead of the draw, Lincoln had celebrated their qualifying campaign, highlighting their defensive record and excitement at reaching the first round proper. A home fixture gives supporters another opportunity to get behind Padden’s side as they take on higher-level opposition.
Elsewhere in the county, Grimsby Town have also been handed a home tie, against Stockport County. The first round proper features 96 clubs across 48 ties, with the draw divided into North, Midlands and South regions.
