West Ham United manager Nuno Espírito Santo has reflected on his side’s 6-0 victory over Lincoln City at Sincil Bank on Wednesday night.
City were reduced to ten men after just three minutes when Tom Hamer was dismissed for a late challenge on Joël Veltman. Conor McGrandles then followed him down the tunnel in the 23rd minute after pulling back Jarrod Bowen as the forward went through on goal, leaving the Imps facing the majority of the contest with nine men.
“Yeah, look, the first tackle was really close to me. I didn’t see the images, but I think it was obvious. That’s my opinion,” he told written press.
Konstantinos Mavropanos headed the visitors ahead just before half-time, with Edvin Austbø and Bowen adding two more shortly after the restart. Pablo also found the net, while a Tomáš Souček double helped complete a painful scoreline for the Imps as West Ham scored five times after the break.

“Personally, I credit Lincoln because, even with one man down, they were in the game and still creating a lot of problems for us. So we cannot ignore that sometimes, under these circumstances, it becomes difficult to find the gaps. I think we made mistakes in terms of rushing things, trying to finish shots from long range because you want to score so desperately.
“But things changed after we scored in the second half. I think we did much better in terms of patience, circulation of the ball, finding the right moment to be clinical, which we were.”
For City, attention now turns to recovering from a bruising evening and finding a response in our next Championship outing away at Millwall.
Each bar shows the two sides' share of that row's total, so it says who had more — not whether it was good, which would need a league-wide distribution this one match cannot provide.
