Lincoln City supporters are invited to celebrate 15 years of 617 Squadron following Saturday’s home fixture against Birmingham City.
Live music, guest speakers and an after-party are planned for 31 October, with the main celebration taking place in the Sincil Bank Fanzone. The event will bring supporters together to mark the anniversary, with head coach Tom Shaw and Chris Cohen both attending. There will also be speeches from Jez George and other special guests, alongside presentations and contributions from across the club and supporter base.
The 617 describe the occasion as a chance to recognise everything that has gone into the group over the past 15 years. Their announcement explains:
“This one-off event brings everyone together to celebrate everything that has made 617 what it is today.”
Three Acts On The Music Line-Up
Opening the evening will be Sleaford band Stone Cold Sweethearts, who have a former member of 617 among their ranks. Their sound draws on Britpop and rock ‘n’ roll. Supporters wanting to catch their set will need to be there for the opening act. The band are heading straight off afterwards to play a second gig of the night in Sleaford.
Also performing are Lincoln indie rock band State of Mind, who will mix covers of indie classics with original material from their debut album, ‘Anything and Everything’. The group are also due to support the Rosadocs at the Drill Hall, giving supporters an opportunity to catch another local act with further gigs on the horizon.
Closing the line-up will be DJ Karma, also known as Tuppers, a lifelong Imps supporter and close friend of the group. His festival experience includes Rockaway Beach, Glastonbury, the Isle of Wight, Latitude, Manchester Psych Fest and Y Not.
He has also warmed up crowds for the likes of The Libertines, Fontaines D.C., Kneecap and Manic Street Preachers. That should provide plenty of experience to draw upon as he rounds off the stadium celebration and gets supporters ready for the next stop.
Celebrations Continue At The Treaty
Once the stadium event finishes, the anniversary celebrations will continue at The Treaty of Commerce. A further DJ set is planned, with bucket collections in support of the group.
For anyone planning to make an evening of it after our meeting with Birmingham, there is plenty on the programme. Capacity for the main celebration is limited and advance booking is required, so supporters should arrange their place ahead of Saturday.
