Watford are hoping to welcome Luca Kjerrumgaard back into their squad when Lincoln City visit on Tuesday night.

The 23-year-old missed Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Norwich City after suffering an adductor problem in training on Friday. His absence forced head coach Alessio Dionisi to adjust his attacking set-up, although the Italian remains hopeful that the Danish striker’s spell on the sidelines will be brief.

Speaking to the Watford Observer after the game, Dionisi confirmed the nature of the problem. However, he stopped short of declaring Kjerrumgaard available for our midweek meeting.

“Lucas had a physical problem yesterday,” he said. “But I hope [that he can be involved again] on Tuesday, but for now I don’t know if he will be able to or not. It’s his adductor.”

Without Kjerrumgaard at Carrow Road, Iker Bravo moved alongside Myron Boadu in attack, with Martin Payero operating in midfield. That partnership provided some encouragement for the Hornets, with Bravo supplying the assist for Boadu’s first goal for the club.

Boadu went on to score twice before the break, putting Watford into a commanding position. However, a second-half collapse saw Norwich overturn that advantage, leaving Dionisi’s side looking for a response against the Imps.

Kjerrumgaard’s potential return would give Watford another attacking option at a time when injuries have restricted Dionisi’s choices. It would not necessarily mean an immediate return to the starting XI, with Boadu and Bravo expected to continue together after their combination at Norwich.

Hector Kyprianou and Edo Kayembe are also expected to feature alongside Payero in midfield on Tuesday. For us, the uncertainty is whether Kjerrumgaard will be available to offer Dionisi a further option, with the Watford boss still awaiting a clearer picture of his fitness.
